This small boutique carries a surprisingly selection of fine jewelry, including some very beautiful antique pieces. I always stop to look in the window when I'm passing, so when my boyfriend and I started talking about getting married, we made a requisite stop at Elleven. We found a beautiful 1920's antique ring which he snuck back later to purchase. Though they sized it before he presented it to me (it was too small for my fourth finger initially), I ended up needing it sized a bit smaller. Knowing that I hated to part with my engagement ring which I had just received, they gave it prompt attention and resized it right away! It was a tricky ring to size since it sits up high off the finger, so I asked them to resize it a touch once again, and they were extremely accommodating and thoughtful, once again doing the work very quickly and never making it seem like an imposition or a chore.
We have since been working on creating the right wedding bands. As we are both designers, we are possibly deranged in our pickiness and discernment of detail. We received some old wedding bands from family members which we wanted to use in forging our bands. I found it's really damn hard to find someone willing to work with you on using your own gold, and having the making of the bands be more of a collaborative process (rather than picking out of a catalog). Nisim was very honest about what was possible (limitations due to using the old bands), and open to working with us to make sure we got bands that we would be entirely happy with (even though utilizing the old rings wasn't something that he typically did). He is almost done with our bands, and we are really happy that we went back to Elleven. It's great being able to interact directly with a small, local jeweler.
